I found a really cool infographic that was published by BlogBuySellAds.com
It gives a very interesting perspective on who uses Twitter and the how and why behind its users and demographics.
I thought it was interesting to see on 8% of the U.S were Twitter users and that the growing population is Asian or Latin America. Europe also has a good amount of Twitter users but seem mainly using it for business.
Women are using Twitter mainly to keep in touch with friends and for status updates, while men tend to use it to get updated on news.
Another interesting thing to note is that only 36% of Twitter users are very active checking it once a day to many times per day, while almost 41% very rarely go in to actually never going in to check their accounts.
20,000 elite users mainly celebrities and media outlets attract 50% of the attention on the service and only represent .05% of the population.
77% of the top 100 companies have Twitter accounts and mainly post news and company updates. Another good portion of their tweets are to provide customer service and another smaller portion are to post jobs.
Great info and it will be interesting to see how the Twitter Stats and demographics will compare from 2011 to 2012.
