If you are trying to find some good #HashTags to use on Twitter to get your message an audience that is focused on what you are tweeting about than read on.
First a HashTag is just a subject or phrase used on Twitter with the # symbol in front of it. The cool thing about a HashTag is that your tweet will not just go to your followers but to everyone following the HashTag.
Now once you understand this concept, what are the best ways to find good HashTags for different topics?
1) HashTags.org
This is a really easy to use site where you just type in a keyword into the search. It then actually shows the trend of the HashTag and the best times during the week that it gets the most tweets. It also shows you other HashTags related to that category. It is very useful and I know I will be using it allot.
2) Twubs.com
Twubs is very cool and has Twitter groups built around the content aggregated from #hashtags. The nice thing is that it has a list of categories that you can choose from as well as things like popular Twubs and Conference Twubs which can also give you insight as to what is the highest trending topics based on these #hashtags.
3) TagDef.com
Now this is a really great site that will tell you what a #HashTag means. For example I just typed in #FB and it tells me this is for people that have installed the selective twitter update application on Facebook. Tweets ending in #FB get imported into Facebook, all others are ignored.
It also gives you a list of related popular and new #hashtags.
These all are great ways to understand what #HashTags are in use and how to find the really good ones.
4) ReTweet.it
A great way to boost those #HashTags a little further is to use the retweeting community known as ReTweet.it. You can place messages or tweets over their community of retweeters. You can earn them by searching categories for interesting messages to retweet to your followers or you can buy credits that can be used to place messages and have other people retweet them. If you use #HashTags in your tweets it can really give them a boost when these are also being retweeted by other users.
